Ukrainian defence company Inguar Defence is working on the development of the Inguar-4, a new armoured vehicle on a three-axle chassis of its own manufacture. The units being prepared for handover have been manufactured as ARVs – armoured recovery vehicles – equipped with hydraulics and a full package of equipment for evacuating damaged vehicles. Quote: "As a priority, this vehicle will be built for evacuating Inguar vehicles. In addition, we are producing equipment for evacuating the most popular vehicles used in Ukraine: MaxxPro, Novator, Kozak, BATT UMG, M113 and so on." More details: A distinctive feature of the new Inguar-4 in its repair configuration is a hydraulic system which, Yushchuk says, will be able to lift a damaged armoured vehicle sideways and tow it away. Versions with additional equipment and customer specifications will cost more, the CEO stated. The total cost of the armoured vehicle is significantly lower than alternatives from abroad. Yushchuk also explained how the vehicle's pricing is determined. Quote: "The average cost of an engine with gearbox is €60,000; the average cost of a suspension assembly, with all springs, stabilisers and subframes, is no less. Then there is steel – combined armour is used, at least three types of steel. The total armour thickness on the vehicle is 30 mm. At the very least, all of this costs money by the kilogram, not to mention that this is special steel or special alloys, which are also not cheap." Background: In February this year, the company unveiled a version of the Inguar-3 developed specifically for transporting UAV operators. The five-person armoured vehicle has a stated anti-mine and ballistic protection level of STANAG-3 and is designed to withstand armour-piercing rounds of 7.62mm x 51 from a distance of 30 metres and the detonation of an anti-tank mine containing 8 kg of explosives.
