In recent years, it has processed about 18 million tonnes annually, accounting for around 7% of Russia's total oil refining output. Background: The authorities in Russia's Leningrad Oblast reported a drone attack on the night of 4-5 May, which resulted in a fire in the town of Kirishi, home to one of the country's largest oil refineries. Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has carried out more than 20 strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, including oil refineries, export terminals and pipelines, inflicting losses of more than US$7 billion on Russia.
