SEOUL, April 21 (Yonhap) -- Qualcomm Inc. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Cristiano Amon is expected to meet with officials from LG Electronics Inc., including CEO Lyu Jae-cheol, in Seoul to expand collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI), industry sources said Tuesday.
During the closed-door meeting, Amon and Lyu will likely discuss ways to combine their technologies for physical AI, which is seen as a future growth engine for both companies, the sources said.
LG Electronics, which is expanding its business portfolio into automotive components, has been making efforts to advance network communications technologies to support physical AI-powered mobility.
Qualcomm unveiled high-performance AI processors for vehicles, including Dragonwing IQ10, as well as robotics platforms, at CES 2026.
Industry insiders say LG Electronics could develop chips and establish a stable supply chain in partnership with Qualcomm.
LG Electronics and Qualcomm have worked together for decades, with the Korean company previously using Qualcomm chips in its mobile phones.
During his visit to South Korea, Amon is also expected to meet with officials from other Korean tech companies, including Samsung Electronics Co. and SK hynix Inc., the sources added.
