Axed Ben McKay among Essendon's six changes

By Chris De Silva

Essendon has made six changes to its line-up ahead of this weekend's clash against the GWS Giants.

The headliner in those changes is the omission of Ben McKay, who was signed to the club on a contract initially in excess of $1 million per year.

McKay has struggled for consistent form since signing with the Dons at the end of 2023, and has been particularly poor in recent weeks.

He received Bronx cheers from Essendon's supporters during last weekend's loss to Brisbane.

Lions turn to frosted glass after whiteboard drama

By Chris De Silva

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan has confirmed that the Lions have installed frosted glass at their training headquarters after last week's whiteboard leak.

"We'll continue doing our whiteboard … I'm unapologetic about that," he said.

"We're in a pretty tough business where you know every little thing matters.

"Initially, when I first got here, I didn't think our players knew enough about their opposition."

Fagan echoed comments made by Hugh McCluggage suggesting the club shouldn't have involved the partner of Essendon defender Jaxon Prior on the whiteboard, even though Prior, an ex-Lion, and his partner are well-known to the club.

"I've probably done it 200 times and that's probably the first time the player's partner has ever been written on the board," he said.

The final teams are in for tonight's clash at Perth Stadium, and both teams will line up as originally selected.

We kick off Round 9 of the home and away season tonight, and it's an absolute blockbuster as Fremantle hosts Hawthorn at Perth Stadium.

Both of these teams have enjoyed brilliant starts to the season, currently sitting second and third on the ladder.
